MELBOURNE WEEKEND

gorgeous shaun tan and inari kiuru, artists extraordinaire at their show at 45 downstairs. together with two other artists they showed shaun's large paintings, inari's jewellery, metal objects, photography and more

IT WAS LOVELY to go to craig smith's book launch with sunny, a chance to catch up with a whole lot of people but frustrating too - 'hello, goodbye' to so many people i would've like to have spent a lot more time with. Leigh, terry, libby, erica, shaun, jude, meredith and so many more, so sorry to not get to sit and talk.

It was a great opening, full of affection and lots of fun - a real celebration of craig's first author/illustrator project, a great book full of funny illustrations.

craig's partner erica, my editor with her son

celebration cupcakes,  craig's book is
called Remarkably Rexy

nice to see academy award winning illustrator shaun tan taking a lesson from friend craig

SUNNY AND I headed of to have dinner at the Union Club Hotel, a lovely little local pub tucked away in a small street, live music, pretty lights and great food.  we walked home on a beautiful balmy night, my feet almost raw from lots of walking in new shoes with massage soles.  i think my soles were massaged right off!

interesting accidental result of setting the camera on
                     manual, a very long exposure

finished the night with scrabble of course

SUNDAY - a walk in the Carlton Cemetery with sunny on a beautiful sunny morning. It was 27 yesterday and felt like a real summer's day.
some wonderful sculptures in a huge and impressive cemetery set
high on a hill overlooking the far eastern suburbs

SUNDAY AFTERNOON in geelong to catch SASSY SOUL SISTERS at the barking dog, a happy afternoon with friends and a great food venue where food vans line up in the back yard and you can order inexpensive food and bring it into the pub, very innovative and it seems to work really well

an ambush by so-called friend gail  - we were dragged
up to sing 'when i'm 64' - even though I'M NOT 64 YET GAIL
LAMBERT!  mind you we were fabulous :0)
