BUNKERING DOWN

HORRIBLE HIGH WINDS today  -  i'd be happy to stay in my pjs all day but i have an airbnb guest coming.  i hope the weather improves for his weekend of flying remote control planes  :0(    that's probably a daggy term to use in this day of drones.

A NEW DAY

SUNSHINE OUTSIDE, beautiful sunset last night.

NOTHING TO REPORT

Another quiet day

HIDING

I'VE BEEN HAVING A MINI HOLIDAY in the hidy hole of my loungeroom.  having a cold is permission to stop - very nice sometimes.  this morning i'm feeling more human, i might get dressed :0)
my super luxury hooded dressing gown has been getting a good workout the last couple of days, even out to the copper to see what goodies were in there.  nothing too exciting except these wonderful leaves from latrobe uni carpark.
I'll change the water today and try some more.
these leaves were large green gumleaves but the new leaves were soft and deep red, they printed really dark. must get some more. i love the way the sofe pastel checks of the blanket almost disappear, just a hint of subtle colour
pretty sure this is box, i'm so awful at keeping records :0\    more patience required

COUCH DAY - head cold, Pride and Prejudice, getting tangled in wool trying continental knitting.  a little bit of progress.

little groover
and his mum :0)

SUGARLIFT
-the aftermath of my
disaster the other
day - rang martin,
font of all printmaking
knowledge and got
step by step instructions
on making sugarlift. it's
smooth and glossy.
also liquid hardground,
all ingredients from
bunnings :0)  what
would we do without
that big B

just realised i didn't post about my disaster, trying to make sugarlift to make a print with.  involved heating sugar and water till it's a syrup consistency.   I got sidetracked didn't, lighting the fire in the lounge.

finally looked up and the whole house had a white smoky ceiling and the kitchen had disappeared in a cloud.  and the saucepan ...

it was going in the bin but i've decided to keep it as a studio decoration :0)   turns
out it didn't need to go on the stove at all.

western style breads, a family business with
                        his wife and sons

 mara's becoming

FRIDAY - THE SUN IS OUT

A MAGNIFICENT WARM SUNNY DAY -  a walk for the paper, negotiating soft muddy ground across the golf course, it's saturated everywhere here.  Everything's growing like mad :0)

the river is so high, with water surging over the lock and currents really racing.

pelican and cormorant at lock 10

lots of interesting patterns left by the rains

I stopped on the footpath on the way back from my walk, absorbed in adjusting the radio on my phone.  when i looked down these two maggies were at my feet, looking up expectantly.  then they both sang me a little song - how gorgeous

I ended the day at friend
di's, watching the warm sun go down over the river from her deck.
the ornamental grapevines are just coming into leaf on her long pergolas

exhibition opening at the visitors centre last night, broken hill artist robyn taylor.  our makers group went along to support her

locals rod and malcolm, and me with dee, a wonderful jeweller and member of the makers

thank you Tamina

and tonight - a champers on the back deck with anne watching the slow sunset behind the trees over the fence, a lovely mild evening after a few cold windy days of rain and greyness
